Group B Exam

Historic judgment
by the CAT, Chennai
in PSS Group B Examination.

In view of such circumstances, if this selection is restricted for the vacancy for the year 2003, no harm would be caused to any of the eligible candidates who faced the examination and thus selection for the year 2003 is held valid and the selection for the vacancies for 2004,2005 and,2006 are held to be defective, arbitrary irrational and discriminatory. Thus the claim of the applicants is allowed partly, directing the respondent to declare year wise vacancies for the years 2004,2005,2006 i9n respect of promotion to the cadre of P.S.S. Group B by preparing year wise list of eligible candidates and also vacancies and thereafter hold fresh Limited Departmental Competitive Examination9(LDCE) restricting the present selection only for the vacancies for the year 2003.

In result, the OA is partly allowed as above, with no order as to costs.

  1. asps, it is better to keep away from pss group examination. for getting a meagre amount of rs.200/- gp, one has to suffer a lot at a distant circle. even if posted at the home circle as sr.pm, one has to forgo the 10 to 30% hra. so, it is better to think twice before writing pss group b exam.

  2. The comptroller & Auditor general India in its circulr dated 03-02-2010, stated that the officials of audit office can get reimbursement of Food Bills by giving a certificate in case of difficulty in getting mechine numbered food bills from the hotels etc at the touring station. Our association could approch the concerned authorities for issuing a similar orders from the Government.

  3. The historic judgement is very good and in favour of eligible candidates up to 2003 only. The rest of successful candidates who are not eligible for the Exam have already joined as PSS and performing duties of Superintendent will they come back? What about those who have opted to write the answer in Hindi but due to non availability of Volumes & Manuals in Hindi their answer sheets were no properly checked and have been declaired Failed even though they are neglected first the DOP print the books in Hindi then conduct the Exam.Otherwise it would be insult of Official Language.

  6. Is the judgement not demorlise these officials who selected as PSS Gr. B by hard working and merit examination. Is association in the interest of for holding fresh recuitment for the year 2004-2005 and 2006. .Application for appearing in the combind exam for 2003 to 2006 was called for from all the IP/ASP than why question arises for their ineligibility for exam.2004 to 2006.

  10. One must know that Deptt. is likely to go for appeal against CAT judgement and also compel the court to hold PSS gp B examn in May 2010. Well done DOp ! first commit mistake and ask for committing another mistake at the cost of poor eligible candidates. Only God can save the country.
